Mass Recruitment of Reservists Has Begun in Russia

According to the publication, the campaign has started in at least 20 regions. Recently, a law was passed in Russia allowing the conscription of reservists for special training and their use for the protection of facilities not only during wartime but also in peacetime. In Russia, the military actions in Ukraine are officially still referred to as a "special operation," and it is formally considered peacetime in the country. In training camps, reservists, who are primarily expected to be involved in combating drones, will receive military status. The recruitment of reservists is taking place in the Leningrad region, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, and Nizhny Novgorod region — all of these regions have recently experienced drone attacks. According to the law, reservists can also be used to combat saboteurs or be involved in the evacuation of the population. Reservists are individuals who have voluntarily signed a contract to be in the mobilization reserve of the Ministry of Defense. They are entitled to payment and various social benefits for signing the contract. The new law stipulates that they can be called up to training camps for up to six months within a year. For participating in the exercises, reservists receive a salary, while their average earnings at their primary job are preserved, and in the event of a reservist's death, their family is provided with compensation and social guarantees.
