The spokesperson for the state railway operator KAI reported on Tuesday that seven people were killed and 81 were injured. Rescue workers continued to operate at the crash site on Tuesday morning. According to the KAI spokesperson, two live individuals were still found in the wreckage. The collision occurred when a long-distance train crashed into a stationary passenger train at the Bekasi Timur station, about 25 kilometers from Jakarta. All the deceased were in the passenger train that was standing at the station.
