В арт-центре Zuzeum проходит выставка MAMA «Мать-Природа»

The exhibition, uniting artists from different countries, presents works dedicated to ecological transformations, cultural memory, and the fragile balance between human activity and the life of the planet. MAMA 'Mother Nature' is conceived as a global artistic platform reflecting on the interconnection of culture, environment, and collective responsibility. The project was first presented at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku in 2024 as part of the COP29 climate conference and has since evolved into an international initiative showcased in major cultural capitals, including Manama, Rome, London, Tbilisi, Berlin, Tirana, and Geneva. Each new presentation expands the dialogue, incorporating new perspectives and local contexts. The Riga version of the exhibition holds special significance. Located at the intersection of Baltic cultural heritage and contemporary European discourse, the Zuzeum Art Museum becomes a space where ecological reflection merges with artistic experimentation. As the home of the Zuzeum collection, the museum also enriches the Riga exhibition MAMA 'Mother Nature' with works from the collection representing Baltic and international artistic perspectives, including works by artists such as Andris Eglitis, Klavs Lorens, Ieva Putniņa, Gabriēle Adomaitīte, Kris Lemsalu, Donna Huanca, Tala Madani, and Simphiwe Ndzube. In this context, the exhibition becomes both a visual and intellectual experience, inviting viewers to engage with nature as a living system shaped by memory, vulnerability, and resilience. A special section of the exhibition is dedicated to the works of children, highlighting the views of the younger generation on ecological awareness and the importance of intergenerational dialogue. By uniting international artistic voices in Riga, MAMA 'Mother Nature' continues to develop a global dialogue in which art becomes a catalyst for awareness, dialogue, and shared responsibility for the future of our planet. The exhibition also strengthens cultural ties that unite communities from different regions. The idea for the exhibition belongs to Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder of the IDEA Public Union. "The idea of the MAMA 'Mother Nature' project arose from the realization that humanity's relationship with the natural world is deeply rooted in culture, memory, and imagination," says Leyla. "At a time when ecological transformations define the global state of the world, artistic practice becomes a powerful means of interpreting and rethinking these interconnections. Artists have a unique ability to translate complex ecological realities into forms of experience that evoke both emotional and intellectual responses. The exhibition brings together artworks that view nature not merely as a landscape but as an active phenomenon that has shaped myths, civilizations, and the rhythms of human life for centuries. Each work reflects a personal perspective, yet together they create a broader understanding of how contemporary society perceives and interprets the living environment.
