Director Emir Kusturica (71) announced that his film based on the novel by writer Valentin Rasputin "The Last Term" will be titled "One Day of My Life." Filming is taking place in Serbia. Kusturica intends to release the film in theaters in 2027. The original story tells about the last moments before the death of a village old woman named Anna, whose adult children gather in their family home and reminisce about the times spent together. The plot of Rasputin's work will be transferred to the context of modern Serbia in Kusturica's film. Previously, the director also mentioned that he would like to make a film about the hockey player and captain of the Washington club, Alexander Ovechkin. Among the well-known films by the director are "Black Cat, White Cat," "Time of the Gypsies," "Underground," and "Life is a Miracle." Emir Kusturica is married. His wife is Maya Kusturica. The couple are the founders and co-owners of the film company Rasta Films, which has produced all of Emir Kusturica's films since "Stories on Super 8," as well as films by other directors. Emir and Maya have two children: a son, Stribor, and a daughter, Dunya. Stribor Kusturica is a drummer in The No Smoking Orchestra; he also appeared as an actor in his father's films "Life is a Miracle" and "The Covenant," and in the latter, he also served as a composer. In 2005, on St. George's Day, Emir Kusturica converted to Orthodoxy at the Savina Monastery under the name Nemanja. The director claims that his distant ancestors were Orthodox Serbs, and thus, his acceptance of Christianity was an act of returning to his roots. According to him, a Christian should strive to make the world more harmonious, and this is the goal Kusturica pursues in his films. Together with his wife Maya, the director became the patron of the Church in honor of Saint Sava of Serbia, built according to his own design in the village on Mokra Gora. The church was consecrated on January 23, 2005, by Bishop Chrysostom of Žiča. On January 21, 2010, a ceremony was held in the Hall of Church Councils of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, where Kusturica was awarded the International Public Fund for the Unity of Orthodox Peoples named after Patriarch Alexy II "For outstanding activities to strengthen the unity of Orthodox peoples. For the affirmation and promotion of Christian values in society." The director stated that he once considered himself a social democrat but later recognized himself as an anarchist. He is also known for his monarchist sympathies. He is a member of the Crown Council under the head of the Karađorđević dynasty, which ruled the country from 1804 to 1945, Crown Prince Alexander.
