According to the press secretary of the Prime Minister of Latvia, Andris Kulbergs, under the agreement, Ukraine has committed to "provide support in transferring expertise, particularly in the context of unmanned systems and air defense, sharing Ukraine's unique military and civilian experience. Ukraine also promises support for the export of products to enhance the capabilities of the National Armed Forces. In cases of support for the Ukrainian industry, the parties will consider opportunities for joint production, localization, and technology transfer." "Ukraine currently knows better than anyone in the world how to combat drones. This agreement will strengthen the defense capabilities of Latvian anti-drone systems. By signing the cooperation agreement, we agreed that the defense forces of both countries will closely cooperate in implementing the agreement, as the exchange of knowledge, experience, and resources allows us to be much more effective in strengthening the defense of our country," noted Andris Kulbergs. The key elements of military support in the agreement include further cooperation between Latvia and Ukraine in the research and development of new military technologies, providing support to Ukraine over the subsequent 10-year period, addressing specific types and volumes annually separately. Additionally, cooperation in the exchange of intelligence information, ensuring export licenses for procurement for the needs of the National Armed Forces, cooperation after the war, including the exchange of experience and collaboration in the reconstruction of Ukraine, especially in restoring defense-related infrastructure such as communication networks, logistical infrastructure, and military industry equipment. Any budgetary commitments from Latvia will be ensured only by a clear approval from the government and, if necessary, the Saeima. Andris Kulbergs' government intends to focus on tasks that can be accomplished on the 14th. During the Saeima, partners agreed on a specific list of priority tasks. One of the important priorities identified is the security of the country, including support for defense and internal affairs services to strengthen the border, air defense, and enhance the internal and external security of the country. One of the tasks the government intends to implement is to promote the integration of modern technologies into the defense and internal affairs services by equipping them with additional unmanned systems and organizing joint training for the services on the use of modern technologies and unmanned systems. An effective detection system for unmanned aerial vehicles is also planned to be created, and the systems for air defense and electronic warfare will be improved, with particular attention paid to border municipalities.
