In particular, goods worth 15.656 million euros were imported from Russia to Latvia in the first four months of this year, which is 4.1 times (48.31 million euros) less than in the first four months of 2025, and from Belarus - worth 8.312 million euros, which is 3.9 times (23.93 million euros) less. At the same time, Latvia exported goods worth a total of 372.739 million euros to Russia and Belarus in the first four months of 2026, which is 6.8% (23.82 million euros) more than in the first four months of 2025. Latvia exported goods worth a total of 334.502 million euros to Russia in the first four months of this year, which is 7.9% (24.563 million euros) more than in the corresponding period of last year, while goods worth 38.237 million euros were exported to Belarus, which is 1.9% (743 thousand euros) less. According to the Central Statistical Bureau, in the first four months of 2026, imports from Russia and Belarus accounted for a total of 0.3% (1.3% in the corresponding period of 2025) of the total volume of Latvian imports, while exports to Russia and Belarus accounted for 5.4% (5.1%) of the total volume of Latvian exports. In April 2026, compared to the same month in 2025, imports from Russia decreased by 34.3% to 5.15 million euros. The decline in imports was mainly influenced by a reduction in imports of chemical industry products and related sectors by 2.4 million euros (79.9%). In turn, compared to the previous month, imports from Russia increased by 30.5%, mainly due to a rise of 1.8 million euros in imports of food industry products, primarily products used as animal feed. At the same time, in April 2026 compared to April 2025, exports to Russia increased by 10.6% to 89.352 million euros. The growth was mainly influenced by a 92.4% (25.1 million euros) increase in exports of food industry products, primarily strong alcoholic beverages. Imports from Belarus in April of this year compared to April 2025 decreased by 77.6% to 1.826 million euros. The reduction in imports was mainly influenced by a decline in the volumes of imported animal and vegetable fats and oils by 5.1 million euros. In turn, exports to Belarus in April 2026 compared to April 2025 decreased by 22.4% to 10.649 million euros. The reduction was mainly influenced by a decrease in the export of optical instruments and equipment by 1.8 million euros, or 42.3%. As reported, in the first four months of this year, Latvia exported goods worth 6.941 billion euros, which is 2.2% (146.875 million euros) more than in the corresponding period of 2025, while importing goods worth 8.073 billion euros, which is 5.8% (442.205 million euros) more.
