As is known, the Silinie government at its last meeting before leaving office approved the distribution of the 52 million that had been saved by ministries and agencies last year among several ministries. It was decided to divide these funds - 52,391,776 euros - among all ministries, as well as to allocate funds for the needs of the Saeima, the president's office, the society integration fund, and the State Audit Office... However, when this appropriation (budget reallocation) document was submitted for approval to the Saeima's budget and finance committee, the government and coalition had already changed. The deputies decided to 'wrap up' this document, meaning they blocked the reallocation of the 52 million. And this week, the budget committee again considered the request of the new government for appropriation. The deputies approved this request by a majority vote. Moreover, as we had assumed, the new government, in order to demonstrate its commitment to saving, reduced the appropriation by 5 million - it was proposed to redistribute 47 million euros. The funds will go towards various urgent needs, including bonuses for excellent work and vacation pay. To what extent bonuses and vacation pay are considered 'urgent needs' and why these expenses were not included in the ministries' budgets in advance remain unanswered questions. In general, the promise of the Kulbergs government to save public funds has so far remained just a promise.
