On Thursday, the first modular shelter made of concrete blocks, similar to those installed in frontline cities in Ukraine as a quick refuge for passersby in case of shelling, began to be assembled on Yuhkentali Street in Estonia. This is the first such facility in all of Estonia, established as part of a pilot project. The modular shelter was presented as a gift to the city from the construction company Citysec Industry. The blocks were created from reinforced concrete, modeled after Ukrainian shelters. Due to the modular design, the shelter can be relocated or expanded to accommodate more people. The issue of shelters in Estonia has become relevant after a series of incidents where Ukrainian strike drones entered the airspace of the Baltic states, leading to air raid alerts. NATO fighters have already shot down such drones over the Baltic states twice – the first time over Estonia, and the second time over Latvia.
