Several potato growers encountered at the Night Market in Rīga are cautious in their assessment of the early potato harvest.
“It’s tough right now. That’s because it was dry for a while, but then it rained for a week. We can’t get out into the field, and harvesting is very difficult. With that drought, they should have had a chance to soak up some water, [but] they didn’t. They should have been bigger, but they are what they are,” said a farmer.
