When entering or exiting Latvia through the external border of the European Union, individuals are required to declare cash if the amount is €10,000 or more. This year, declarations were also submitted 14 times for amounts less than €10,000. Among these, in 22 cases, large amounts of cash were declared by individuals arriving from Russia. In eight of these cases, Latvia was indicated as the final destination. The largest amount brought from Russia and declared at the Latvian border this year was €141,801. The person declaring this money indicated Latvia as the final destination. Conversely, Russia was indicated as the destination country in 27 cases, with Latvia listed as the country of departure in ten of them. The largest declared amount was €244,892. This amount was declared in March of this year at the Grebneva Customs checkpoint, with Latvia indicated as the country of departure.
