Дворец Дурбе в Тукумсе

This weekend, on July 4 and 5, the traditional event "Days of Historical Parks and Gardens" will take place across Latvia. Visitors can look forward to dozens of events in ancient manors and castles — from walks through historical parks to open-air concerts. The organizers have prepared programs for every taste. Guests will be able to go on excursions, participate in creative workshops, visit exhibitions, family events, and musical evenings, as well as learn about the history of ancient parks. Those who enjoy a leisurely pace should pay attention to the manors of Blankenfelde, Apšuciems, Igate, Šlokenbeka, and Bīriņi, where guests can enjoy tea parties, stroll through the parks, and take guided tours. In Blankenfelde, visitors will also be offered to try elderflower tea and visit the manor house. For those seeking unusual experiences, the organizers offer events at the Eleja manor, where a sound therapy session using crystal bowls will take place, as well as a retreat in the garden of the Mazmezotne manor. At the Luznava manor, visitors can walk through a sensory garden with a thuja maze. The musical program is also expected to be rich. At the Durbe Castle, operatic and operetta arias will be performed, while in Varakļāni, an open-air concert "Pages of History" will be dedicated to the 275th anniversary of the architect of the historical park Vincenzo Macotti. At the Cēsis Castle, guests can enjoy a concert by kokle performer Lauma Matule, and Sunday will conclude with a grand concert by Aija Andrejeva and Jānis Aišpurs at the Dobele Castle. For families with children, creative workshops, fairs of local producers, and entertainment programs are organized. The Reading Festival will take place in Valmiera, and in Dobele, in addition to workshops, there will be a ceremonial planting of fruit trees. If you want to combine a nature walk with visiting historical sites, this weekend is a great opportunity to discover Latvian manors, many of which have prepared special programs for just two days. Each manor conducts its own full program of events, so it is advisable to check the schedule of the chosen site before the trip. The Days of Historical Parks and Gardens take place in several regions of the country and bring together dozens of historical manors, giving visitors the chance to explore their architecture, gardens, and cultural heritage.
