Анастасия Березовская

The main suspect in the case of the explosion that occurred on Monday in Monaco is 39-year-old Ukrainian citizen Anastasia Berezovskaya. Interpol has issued a "red notice" for her, which entails an international search on charges of attempted murder, conspiracy, and the use of an explosive device in a public place. According to the Monaco prosecutor's office, after the attack, the suspect left the principality, crossed the border into France, and then traveled through several European countries to Germany in a rented car with German license plates, where she is believed to have been living recently. The German police have already conducted searches of the apartment and car associated with the suspect, and the seized materials will be handed over to the investigation in Monaco. Investigators believe that during the preparation for the attack, the woman was disguised as a man. Initially, surveillance cameras did capture a person in male clothing; however, subsequent analysis of the video footage and witness testimonies indicated that it was likely a woman who had altered her appearance. According to the investigation, the suspect observed the scene for several days, and on the evening of the attack, she left an explosive device at the entrance of a residential building and detonated it remotely when the victims approached the building. As a result of the explosion, three people were injured — Ukrainian businessman Vadim Yermolaev, a woman, and a child. According to the prosecutor's office, one of the injured remains in critical condition, another sustained serious injuries, and the third suffered minor injuries. Additionally, two random passersby received minor injuries from glass shards. The investigation has not yet disclosed the motive for the attack. However, the prosecutor's office emphasizes that the complexity of the explosive device's construction and the method of its use suggest the involvement of several individuals. As part of the investigation, two men were previously detained, but they were released due to insufficient evidence. The explosion has become an unprecedented incident for Monaco — a state considered one of the safest in Europe due to its high density of police presence and developed surveillance system. Prince Albert II described the incident as a "despicable crime." The investigation is ongoing simultaneously in several European countries. Law enforcement agencies are trying to identify possible accomplices of the suspect and determine who might be behind the organization of the attack. The investigation treats the explosion in Monaco as a carefully planned assassination attempt and continues an international operation to locate the suspect and possible accomplices.
