Клещи атакуют

“Ticks are widespread everywhere. You can encounter them both in rural areas and in urban settlements. Usually, the most favorable times for contact with ticks are in the morning – from 08:00 to 11:00 and in the evening – from 17:00 to 20:00,” the expert clarifies. According to her, direct sunlight, high temperatures, and hot weather suppress tick activity. They are more active during cloudy times and in humid conditions, which is precisely in the evening and morning. According to her, ticks usually reside in tall grass and wait for their host – which can be an animal or a human – at the tips of the grass blades and then move onto clothing or the fur of an animal, potentially biting in areas such as the armpits, groin, neck, behind the ears, and the inner elbows, that is, where the skin is thin and delicate. To protect oneself from ticks, it is recommended to wear clothing that covers exposed areas of the body, the neck, as well as a headwear. When in the forest or outdoors, it is advisable to conduct checks on each other at fairly short intervals to detect ticks in a timely manner. The expert advised using repellents. They can be applied both to the skin and to clothing. Preventive measures against tick bites also include mechanical protection of one’s garden areas from ticks: destroying weeds, timely mowing of tall grass and its removal, eliminating garbage, dead wood, and improving the territory.
