He noted that many proposals have been submitted for the second reading of the bill. Coalition partners agreed to consider the proposals from the Latvian Olympic Committee and political parties that do not involve reallocating funding from already planned events. In particular, deputies Evika Siliņa (former Prime Minister of Latvia), Davis Martiņš Daugavietis, and Alina Hendele propose directing 3% of the revenue from excise taxes on alcohol, tobacco, and non-alcoholic beverages to the sports fund. In the first reading, the Saeima deputies supported the bill on the State Sports Fund, which provides for the creation of a new funding instrument for the industry, in early June. It is planned that the State Sports Fund will administer various funding instruments for sports, competitions for project implementation, and targeted programs.
