The Norwegian Football Federation announced that it directed the proceeds from the World Cup 2026 qualifying match against Israel to humanitarian aid for the residents of the Gaza Strip. The match took place in Oslo on October 11, 2025, and ended with a victory for the Norwegian national team with a score of 5-0. Even before the game, the federation announced that all net profits from the match would be donated to the international humanitarian organization "Doctors Without Borders," which provides emergency assistance in the Gaza Strip and other areas affected by armed conflict. After the financial results were tallied, it turned out that the net profit from the match amounted to approximately 522,000 Norwegian kroner, or about 47,000 euros. However, the federation decided to significantly increase the donation amount by adding another one million Norwegian kroner from its own funds. As a result, the total amount of aid reached 1.5 million Norwegian kroner, which is about 135,000 euros. Later, the initiative was supported by a major representative of Norway's private sector, who wished to remain anonymous. He donated an additional three million Norwegian kroner. Thus, the total amount of funds raised reached nearly 4.5 million Norwegian kroner, or over 400,000 euros. All the money will be directed to the humanitarian programs of "Doctors Without Borders" in the Gaza Strip. The match was held under heightened security measures due to the tense geopolitical situation. The capacity of the Ullevaal Stadium was reduced, which decreased ticket sales revenue while simultaneously increasing security costs. Despite this, the Norwegian Football Federation fulfilled its promise to donate all profits from the game and further increased the donation amount. The federation's president, Lise Klaveness, stated that the organization cannot remain indifferent to the humanitarian suffering of the civilian population. She emphasized that Norway continues to adhere to the rules of FIFA and UEFA and respects Israel's participation in international competitions. The federation noted that sporting events can be used not only as a platform for competition but also as an opportunity to support people caught in a humanitarian crisis. The initiative from the Norwegian side allowed for the collection of over 400,000 euros to assist the residents of the Gaza Strip.
