Никита Хрущев и Конрад Аденауэр

The Excelsior Hotel Ernst in Cologne will repeat the historic lunch that German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer hosted in the fall of 1955 at his dacha near Moscow for Nikita Khrushchev and other members of the Soviet leadership. The lunch took place during the first official visit of the German leader to Moscow and the first negotiations between the government delegations of the Federal Republic of Germany and the USSR. As the hotel’s press service told DW, the menu will be as close as possible to the historical one. "The original menu has been preserved. It reflects a luxurious and carefully curated feast: from goose liver pâté and turtle soup to Holstein ham with asparagus heads, boiled salmon, venison ham, and the dessert 'Black Forest,'" the organizers in Cologne noted. "Each dish will be created based on the original and will subtly convey its spirit in a modern interpretation. The final menu will be announced on the day of the dinner." The initiator of the current culinary celebration on the banks of the Rhine is the local newspaper Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger. It is held under the motto "150 Years of Konrad Adenauer. 150 Years of Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger." A total of two dinners are planned - on the eve and on German Unity Day, which is celebrated on October 3. Tickets for the first banquet were sold out literally within a few hours. The price for the evening is 235 euros per person.
