According to the agency, on the night from Sunday to Monday in Šilutė, police discovered various species of spiders in plastic containers in a car and called environmental specialists to the scene. Experts seized the animals for species identification and initiated an investigation into the administrative offense. It is suspected that some of the spiders may belong to protected species, for which documents confirming the legality of acquisition are mandatory. As noted by the department, after examining all circumstances and establishing the fact of the violation, the individual will be held administratively liable. Environmentalists remind that those wishing to acquire wild animals should first ensure that they do not belong to invasive species, the keeping and trade of which is prohibited in Lithuania. As reported by Bb.lv, in Narva, Estonian border guards detained a person who attempted to smuggle bees into Russia... in their pocket.
