"We are saddened to announce the passing of our father, a television legend, Sergey Leonidovich Sholokhov. The date and place of the funeral will be announced later," he wrote. Sergey Sholokhov was born on September 27, 1958, in Leningrad. He graduated from the Faculty of Philology at Leningrad State University and then completed postgraduate studies at the Leningrad Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography, becoming a candidate of art studies. Sholokhov began working at Leningrad Television in 1987 as an editor in the film department. He gained wide recognition for the publicistic program "Fifth Wheel." One of its episodes, prepared in 1991 together with musician Sergey Kurekhin, entered television history as "Lenin is a mushroom." Constructed as a pseudo-documentary investigation, the program became one of the most famous television memes in the post-Soviet space. Since 1991, Sholokhov was the author and host of the program "Quiet House," dedicated to cinema and culture. For many years, he covered major international film festivals, served as a member of international film juries, and produced documentaries about outstanding figures in cinema, including Alexei German, Kirill Lavrov, and Alexei Balabanov. He appeared in Balabanov's film "I Also Want" in the role of the host. Over the years, Sholokhov held the position of Deputy Chairman of the State Television and Radio Company "Petersburg - Fifth Channel," worked as a visiting researcher at Harvard University, and headed the production center "Petersburg - Culture," which produced television programs and documentaries.
