Saeima deputy Didzis Šmits, who is not running for the next parliament, has made an unexpected initiative on social media: "The most reasonable thing to do in the woodworking matter is to thank the Silini government for the opportunity to receive an interest-free loan and return the money. In the justification for the payment, it is stated that considering the market has rapidly stabilized, etc., the support is being returned. Instead, before the support has to be returned anyway, lawyers, bloggers, PR specialists, and politicians will be hired. Time, nerves, and a lot of money will be wasted. Totally pointless. Unprofitable. Additionally, not a single politician - minister, if not the prime minister - will escape political oblivion. They will learn a lot about who in the industry is of what politics and how much. Is this needed by any of them? They stirred the pot themselves, they need to clean it up themselves," wrote D. Šmits. The idea of returning the money is certainly interesting, but it will not stop the criminal process and subsequent legal proceedings. So, lawyers will not remain unemployed anyway.
