The company InterNations [published](https://www.internations.org/expat-insider) the annual **Expat Insider 2026** ranking, based on a survey of nearly 8,000 expats from 162 countries. Participants rated life abroad on five criteria: quality of life, work, personal finances, relocation conditions, and ease of adaptation. For the third consecutive year, **Panama** took first place. The country received high marks for the ease of obtaining visas, the friendliness of locals, and comfortable conditions for foreigners. About **87%** of respondents stated that they are satisfied with life in Panama, and one in three would like to stay there forever. **Mexico** ranked second, recognized as the best country for quick adaptation due to the openness of locals and the ability to easily make new friends. **Thailand** came in third. Expats particularly appreciate the low cost of living, affordable housing, and high level of satisfaction with daily life. Among European countries, **Spain** emerged as the most attractive destination, ranking sixth overall. Its strengths include climate, developed public transport, travel opportunities, and a high quality of life. The top ten also included **Portugal** (8th place) and **Luxembourg** (10th place), which was especially praised for good employment opportunities. At the opposite end of the ranking were **the United Kingdom**, **Turkey**, **Germany**, and **Norway**. The latter ranked last due to difficulties with adaptation, high cost of living, and dissatisfaction with personal finances.
