Пласидо Доминго

For the Latvian audience, this will be an opportunity to hear Kristine Opolais in her homeland once again — alongside two stars of the opera stage from different generations: the legend of world opera Plácido Domingo and American tenor Michael Fabiano. As previously reported, Plácido Domingo will perform in Latvia for the first time on July 29. Throughout his outstanding career, the maestro has performed over 150 diverse opera roles and has brilliantly and naturally interpreted music from various genres. The program he will present to the audience in Jūrmala will be as diverse as possible: arias from the operas "Andrea Chénier" and "Il Trovatore", operettas "The Hotel Mistress" (La locandiera) and "The Land of Smiles", Spanish and Italian songs, as well as, of course, duets and trios with the host of the evening — soprano Kristine Opolais — and American tenor Michael Fabiano. A detailed concert program can be found on the Biļešu serviss website. And that’s not all: the organizers promise the audience several pleasant surprises, which they are keeping secret for now. The concert promises to be truly grand: three global stars, a choir, and the Festival Orchestra under the direction of conductor Valentin Urupin will take the stage. Works by Verdi, Puccini, Leoncavallo, Giordano, Cilea, Dvořák, Sorozabal, and Lehár will be performed. Moreover, this concert will fulfill a long-held dream: ten years ago, Plácido Domingo told Kristine Opolais that he would very much like to perform duets with her specifically in Latvia.
