The statement said that Iran demands an end to "threats from American officials and illegal interference" from the US, although specific claims were not detailed. The US command reported that US armed forces remain on heightened alert. ### Retaliatory Strikes in Iraq That same night, the US, in conjunction with the armed forces of Saudi Arabia, carried out airstrikes against pro-Iranian armed groups in Iraq. The Saudi Ministry of Defense stated that the operation was a response to recent drone attacks on Saudi energy facilities. However, US and Saudi authorities did not clarify whether these strikes were directly related to Iran's missile attack on the US base in Jordan. ### Ceasefire Ended Iran did not attack American military facilities in the Persian Gulf region for several days after the US also halted airstrikes. This pause lasted about four days and followed nearly two weeks of exchanges of strikes between the parties. During the previous escalation, Iran had already struck territory in Jordan.
