The company explained that before the tests begin, the temperature of the heat carrier is intentionally reduced to about +45 degrees. This is necessary for safety, to prevent very hot water from entering the environment in case of pipeline damage. Therefore, many residents may have noticed that the hot water became less hot as early as the evening before. It is planned that the hydraulic tests will be completed within one day. If no damage to the heating networks is found during the inspection, the supply of hot water will begin to be restored in the evening. However, in places where defects are identified, the shutdown may last longer — until the repair work is completed. Hydraulic tests are conducted annually before the heating season. During such inspections, specialists test the heating networks under increased pressure to detect weak points in the pipelines in advance and eliminate them before the cold weather arrives. "Rīgas siltums" recommends that residents of the affected areas take the temporary shutdown into account when planning their day. Most consumers are promised that hot water will be returned by evening if the tests go without accidents.
