The most noticeable decline in demand is observed in the budget smartphone segment, which accounts for more than a third of the entire mobile phone market in Latvia. "The data from the mobile phone market reflects the economic situation in Latvia well - the segment of inexpensive devices is shrinking the most, while the premium segment remains stable. This means that buyers with higher incomes continue to purchase new smartphones, while people with lower incomes are much more careful in assessing the necessity of buying a new device," said Tele2. The company points out that the mobile phone market is influenced not only by the economic situation in the country but also by the gradual change in consumer habits. People have started to change phones less frequently, and the devices themselves last longer - on average, at least three years. This is due both to the increased reliability of modern smartphones and to the lack of truly revolutionary innovations in the market. Moreover, the mobile phone is no longer such a pronounced status symbol as it was a few years ago. Today, its value is increasingly determined by functionality, which also affects the purchasing decision.
