Researchers created a mathematical model of aging that takes into account the accumulation of inevitable errors in our DNA. It turned out that even with complete victory of medicine over all age-related diseases and tissue decline, humans will not be able to live forever. However, new rejuvenation technologies will allow people to reach ages from 150 to nearly 200 years, reports the Daily Mail. **How the Accumulation of Minor Errors in DNA Destroys the Body** The main enemy of longevity turned out to be so-called somatic mutations. Each cell in the human body constantly divides and copies its genetic code. During the copying process, minor glitches inevitably occur. Special protective mechanisms eliminate most of the errors, but some damage still remains in the DNA strands. Over time, the number of these violations reaches a critical point and gradually reduces the ability of organs to function normally. The accumulation of somatic mutations often leads to the development of oncological diseases. However, scientists have proven that even with a complete victory over cancer, the mutations themselves become fatal over time. The gradual depletion of the cellular reserve leads to the failure of tissues and organs. This biological process creates a strict natural limit. **The Ideal Model of Aging** Lead author of the study Dmitry Kryukov and his colleagues built a model of aging that takes into account the influence of somatic mutations on tissues. If doctors learn to completely block the remaining mechanisms of decline, the average lifespan will be between 146 and 194 years. This is roughly twice the current average figures in developed countries. Moreover, individual people with high cellular resilience could theoretically live even longer. Researchers found that different organs age at completely different rates. Skin and liver cells are constantly renewed and can sustain their function for many decades. In contrast, the tissues of the heart and brain have virtually no regenerative capacity. For this reason, dangerous genetic errors accumulate in them the fastest, requiring special attention from medical professionals when developing rejuvenation methods.
