On Saturday, a fire occurred at St. Basil's Cathedral on Red Square in Moscow. According to Russian emergency services, the fire has been completely extinguished. As reported by TASS, the fire broke out on the first floor of the building — in the director's office. Furniture and personal belongings caught fire, and the area of the fire was about 10 square meters. The causes of the fire have not yet been officially announced. There has also been no information about any injuries. About ten fire crews were dispatched to extinguish the fire. After some time, emergency services reported that the fire was completely put out. St. Basil's Cathedral is one of the most famous architectural symbols of Moscow and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Today, the building primarily functions as a museum, part of the State Historical Museum, although religious services are also held there periodically. According to preliminary information, the fire was localized and did not lead to a large-scale spread of flames.
