Confiscated vehicles from drunk drivers continue to be used to support Ukraine. This year, Latvia has already transferred 187 vehicles to the Ukrainian side, and next week the Cabinet of Ministers plans to make a decision on the transfer of another 21 cars. After this, the total number of transferred vehicles will reach 208. Among the confiscated vehicles are not only cars but also ATVs and minibuses. As representatives of charitable organizations note, such vehicles are particularly in demand at the front: ATVs are used by the military, while minibuses assist medics in evacuating the wounded. Before being transferred, the vehicles undergo inspection and, if necessary, minor repairs. Charitable organizations, including "Tavi draugi," handle this. "We receive offers about once every two weeks, evaluate which vehicles are suitable, repair them, and send them off. The main focus is on SUVs, vans, and station wagons," said the organization's representative Kaspars Berziņš. According to him, often the vehicles require only minor repairs, as many were damaged during attempts to evade the police. According to the State Security Agency, it is the Cabinet of Ministers that makes decisions on the gratuitous transfer of confiscated vehicles to Ukraine.
