The police department of the town of Dunellen conducted an unusual operation on one of the busiest sections of North Washington Avenue. To identify motorists using their phones while driving, one of the officers donned a camouflage suit resembling a bush and monitored the flow of cars, relaying information to colleagues. According to the police, a total of 74 drivers were fined in just six hours of the raid. After the operation, the department humorously posted on Facebook: "Did you notice our 'bush' today? If you were glued to your phone — probably not!" The police emphasized that the goal of the initiative was not to collect fines, but to enhance road safety and remind drivers that a message on the phone can wait. ### Some Laughed, Others Spoke of a 'Setup' The unusual raid sparked a heated discussion on social media. Some users joked, suggesting to "sign up for the bushes" or referred to the operation as "Sticking Out from the Bushes." Others, on the contrary, criticized the police's actions, stating that such an unusual disguise itself distracts drivers and could be grounds for contesting fines. Some commentators also accused the police of wanting to boost the city budget rather than enhance safety. However, many Dunellen residents supported the initiative and suggested conducting similar raids more often — including against speeders and those who fail to yield to pedestrians.
