Улица со старыми домами

Since August 3, traffic restrictions have been imposed on a section of Daugavpils Street near house No. 8 in Riga. The reason is the dangerous technical condition of the building, which poses a risk of its elements collapsing onto the sidewalk and roadway. According to the Riga City Council, dangerous deformation of the load-bearing structure on the second floor has been identified in the non-residential building. This has created a threat of construction elements falling beyond the building. The house had previously been recognized as an object degrading the urban environment. Now, after the discovery of new damage, the authorities have decided to completely close traffic on this section of the street and restrict pedestrian access until the danger is eliminated. Such restrictions are imposed when there is a risk of structural collapse and it is necessary to ensure the safety of pedestrians and drivers. On Monday, a construction inspector from the Riga City Council inspected the site. Following the inspection, it was decided to maintain the existing restrictions until the threat is completely eliminated. The building owner has been instructed to take the necessary measures to eliminate the danger. It is not yet reported when traffic on the street will be restored. The Riga City Council urges residents to comply with the established restrictions and not to enter the fenced area.
