According to the World Health Organization (WHO), as of August 1, there have been 3,748 confirmed cases of the disease in the country, of which 1,657 have resulted in death. This was announced at a briefing in Geneva by WHO spokesperson Tarik Jasarevic. He stated that the scale of the epidemic continues to grow and already exceeds the capabilities of the existing response system. "We need additional support — not only financial but also in the form of resources that will allow us to expand response measures in all areas," emphasized the WHO representative. The organization urgently requires additional treatment facilities, mobile epidemiological teams, crews for the safe burial of the deceased, as well as medical personnel willing to work directly in the outbreak areas. The World Health Organization warns that without additional international assistance, it will be extremely difficult to stop the spread of Ebola. As the number of cases increases, the risk of further deterioration of the epidemiological situation in the region rises.
