Popular Mexican influencer Cesar Gastelum was killed in an armed attack during a live stream in the city of Culiacan, Sinaloa. According to law enforcement, two men on a motorcycle approached the location where the blogger was. They opened fire, with preliminary information indicating that Gastelum was the target of the attack. Two men who were nearby were not injured.  Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that law enforcement is conducting an investigation to identify the perpetrators and the motive for the crime. At the time of the attack, Gastelum was near a fast-food restaurant with two men dressed as delivery service couriers. The blogger had over 600,000 followers on TikTok. He also maintained pages on the Kick platform and other services, where he primarily posted humorous videos about everyday life and local cuisine in Sinaloa. Investigators are considering various versions of what happened. The Mexican Security Cabinet reported that they are checking whether the murder could be linked to the content published by the blogger. According to the agency, in some of his posts, he indirectly mentioned a criminal group. Sinaloa remains one of the most crime-ridden regions in Mexico. In recent years, there has been ongoing confrontation between competing criminal groups, which regularly leads to spikes in violence. The investigation is ongoing. Authorities have not yet reported any arrests of suspects.
