In the Šeškinė Polyclinic, information on screens is available only in Lithuanian and English; however, medical services in Russian are still accessible, LRT reports. The institution explains that during registration, it is clarified which language the patient speaks, after which they try to direct them to the appropriate specialist. "The key point is registration. We allocate patients knowing which languages our staff speak and in which languages they are willing to serve patients," explained Evaldas Pilipavičius, a representative of the Šeškinė Polyclinic. Meanwhile, the State Tax Inspectorate of Lithuania and the State Social Insurance Fund Board "Sodra" emphasize that their goal is to ensure the availability of services for the widest possible range of residents, so they do not intend to abandon the Russian language. "We see that the number of Russian-speaking clients has been increasing lately — both due to the geopolitical situation and due to arrivals from Asian countries. Since the beginning of the year until July, about 44,000 Russian-speaking clients have contacted us regarding tax issues by phone," said VMI head Martinas Endrijaitis. Sodra representative Malgorzata Kozič noted that the institution adheres to the principle of client orientation. "We strive to provide services in the language that the person speaks. Our consultants are not required to serve clients in languages other than the state language; this is done voluntarily," she said. It should be noted that the Vilnius City Municipality announced the cessation of accepting applications and complaints in Russian. Information in Russian and other languages of non-EU countries will only be provided orally and only if a specific employee speaks the relevant language. Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkiavičius believes that the issue cannot be assessed unambiguously. "I do not have a clear answer on whether it is necessary or not. If we are talking about citizens of Russia — that is one approach. If we are talking about freedom fighters who left Belarus or Ukrainians, then the situation looks different," noted the head of government.
