The Minister of the Interior, Janis Dombrava, commented on the situation with illegal migration on social media: "In June and July, the State Border Guard had to curb an average of one hundred attempts at illegal entry. On days when technical issues arose in Paternieki, the pressure from immigrants significantly decreased. It would be very good if the Belarusian authorities stopped supporting illegal immigrants, as this ultimately harms Belarus itself. Soon, even more extensive measures to curb illegal immigration will be initiated. Explanation: cases of curbing mean that illegal border crossings were not allowed. People did not remain in Latvia."
