According to the investigation, after completing their service in the Majdal Shams area, the soldiers left a luxurious coastal hotel, which was used as a temporary military base during the fighting, taking hotel property with them. The hotel was fully evacuated after the conflict began and was used by the Israeli military as a logistics point and accommodation for personnel. Preliminary information indicates that soldiers took hotel slippers, soap, shampoos, and other items intended for guests. However, the investigation took a new turn after it was revealed that among the items removed were bathroom doors. According to the army, the doors were not installed in the homes of the soldiers but were located in a container of one of the units. Additionally, some soldiers kept part of the items as souvenirs. Despite the fact that the unit had previously received high praise from command for its successful actions during operations in southern Lebanon, including the discovery of underground infrastructure used for launching drones, army leadership decided to conduct a service investigation. Investigators will need to determine how the property left the hotel premises, whether other items were removed, and whether the soldiers should face disciplinary action.
