Jazz singer and vocal teacher Olga Pirags celebrates her 70th birthday on August 12. In honor of the anniversary, a concert will take place in the fall, where her famous songs will be performed by colleagues and students. The artist herself hopes to take the stage as well. However, she admits that she is not confident about it. A few years ago, Pirags [lost](https://bb.lv/statja/lifenews/2025/08/20/latviiskaia-pevica-poteriala-golos-iz-za-nescastnogo-slucaia) her famous velvet timbre. Since then, she continues to hope for recovery, but doctors have not been able to provide any forecasts so far. > “I dream of singing again, but unfortunately, my voice has not recovered. The doctors honestly told me: ‘No one knows when your voice might return.’ I am a realist and understand: I may never sing again,” Olga Pirags told the magazine [Privātā Dzīve](https://www.santa.lv/raksts/privatadzive/iespejams-nekad-vairs-nedziedasu-olga-pirags-lielas-jubilejas-prieksvakara-atklati-par-parbaudijumiem-un-sapniem-84642/). Despite this difficult trial, the singer does not lose hope that a long-awaited miracle will happen by the anniversary concert and she will be able to return to her audience, even if only for a short time. The upcoming concert will not only be a celebration of the artist's 70th birthday but also a tribute to her many years of contribution to the Latvian jazz scene. Her most famous songs will be performed by colleagues and students she has mentored over the years. Even after several years of losing her voice, Olga Pirags continues to hope that one day she will be able to sing for her audience again.
