Saeima deputy Arturs Butāns (National Alliance) shared a fragment of his speech during a television debate on Latvian TV on the social network Facebook and added: "The Russian language will never return to Latvian schools - this is something the National Alliance will never allow. In Latvia, a generation of young people is growing up who want to live in a national state and belong to Europe. It is the study of the state language and the languages of the EU that is the path to competitiveness and a united society."
