Off the coast of the Thai island of Koh Samui, rescuers found a French tourist and his two sons, aged five and seven, who had spent nearly 16 hours in open sea after a jet ski accident, reported Entrevue. The 50-year-old man rented a jet ski on Thursday evening, around 5:00 PM. According to preliminary information, just 15 minutes after going out to sea, the watercraft capsized. When the family did not return at the scheduled time, the rental company contacted emergency services. On Friday morning, rescuers found all three. By that time, they were severely exhausted and had swallowed seawater. The victims were taken to the hospital for examination, but no serious injuries were found, and they were discharged shortly after receiving medical assistance. The circumstances of the incident are still being investigated. The tourist claims to have extensive experience operating a jet ski. At the same time, representatives of the rental company state that the family left the designated riding area. Footage from the rescue operation shows the jet ski nearly completely submerged. One of the children was on the part of the watercraft that was above water, while the father was holding on nearby in the water. All three were wearing life jackets, which, according to rescuers, played a crucial role in their survival. Thai authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and to find out why the jet ski ended up outside the permitted riding zone.
