Many are familiar with the feeling of standing in front of a full wardrobe but being unable to find suitable clothing. Let's explore what might be behind this phenomenon. REASON #1. YOU ARE CHASING TRENDS In today's fashion world, trends change very quickly: what is relevant today may become irrelevant tomorrow. This does not mean that you should completely ignore fashion directions; it is important not to overdo it. If mini skirts, platforms, and bright orange are in fashion now, it is better to focus on one element, for example, skirts, and incorporate them into your outfits rather than wearing everything at once. REASON #2. YOUR WARDROBE IS POORLY ORGANIZED The problem of having “nothing to wear” may be related to clutter in your closet. It is more effective to organize clothing by categories rather than by colors: blazers with blazers, shirts with shirts, pants with pants, and so on. Marie Kondo suggests that the length of items in the closet should decrease from left to right: starting with long coats and ending with skirts and light tops. Such an order will significantly ease the choice of clothing. REASON #3. MOST OF YOUR CLOTHES ARE “FAST FASHION” “Fast fashion” quickly becomes boring: items bought in mass-market stores may become irrelevant in just six months. For example, a skirt purchased from a store may often be seen on others, which can decrease the desire to wear it. Rejecting fast fashion does not necessarily mean spending a lot on luxury brands. As Miuccia Prada said: If you can afford Prada — please do. If not — that’s okay. Wear vintage. Be strong and proud. REASON #4. YOU BUY LIKE OTHERS Before each purchase, ask yourself the question suggested by Natasha Goldenberg: “Does this item really suit me, or did I just see it many times on Instagram and decided to buy it?” Even if a dress or skirt looks beautiful on others, it may not suit you. REASON #5. YOU HAVEN'T FOUND YOUR WOF YET WOF (without fail) is a term proposed by designer Tibi Amy Smilovic that describes the essential items in your wardrobe that may not necessarily be in fashion trends but in which you feel comfortable. These can be a black sweater, a blue shirt, gray jeans, or a well-fitting blazer. With your personal WOF, choosing clothing will become easier, and you will feel confident throughout the day.
