Nadia Massih is pleased to welcome Daniel Neuenschwander, Director of Human and Robotic Exploration at the European Space Agency (ESA). According to Neuenschwander, this latest ISS mission demonstrates what makes the International Space Station exceptional: interdependence. European, American, Japanese, Canadian and Russian partners depend on one another to keep the station functioning, even when relations on Earth are more complicated. Replacing a 90-kilogram communications antenna is a technically demanding task in an environment where every system must function perfectly.
