The weather in Latvia will continue to be influenced by cyclones until the end of this week, so residents of the country can still expect periodic rain, with heavy downpours and thunderstorms in some areas, along with gusty winds. However, next week the weather situation may change due to the strengthening influence of an anticyclone. In the coming days, precipitation will alternate with sunny periods. Intense downpours and thunderstorms are possible in certain regions, so the weather will remain very uneven: while one part of the country enjoys sunshine, another may experience heavy rain. Saturday may become the rainiest day, as another cyclone approaches Latvia from the south, which could bring significant precipitation to a large part of the country. However, meteorologists note that the cyclone's trajectory remains uncertain, so it is possible that the heaviest rains will occur further south, over the territory of Belarus. This means that the precipitation forecast may still change as calculations are refined. The temperature background will remain quite stable. In the second half of the week, nighttime temperatures are expected to range from +9 to +16 degrees, while daytime temperatures will warm up to +17...+23 degrees. No sharp temperature changes are forecasted for next week either. According to the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, the average air temperature in Latvia next week will remain one to two degrees below the climatic norm. At the same time, precipitation is expected to be less than usual for the end of August, according to preliminary estimates. If the forecast holds true, next week will be more comfortable for outdoor activities, travel, and agricultural work, although the weather will still be rather cool for the end of summer. Preliminary forecasts for September also look calm: meteorologists expect both air temperature and precipitation to be close to long-term averages.
