It is planned that next year ministers will receive 8,107 euros per month before taxes, while the salary of Saeima deputies will be 4,576 euros gross. The salary of the president, the speaker of the Saeima, and the prime minister will increase by 494 euros per month. If this year these officials receive 8,659 euros before taxes, then next year their salary will be 9,153 euros per month. The State Chancellery explained to the LETA agency that the Law on the Remuneration of Officials and Employees of State and Municipal Institutions requires the State Chancellery to publish on its website the amount of the basic monthly salary for the following year by May 1 of each year. At the same time, decisions may be made during the annual preparation of the state budget project that limit salary growth or freeze it completely. For example, when forming the budget for 2025, it was established that the indexation coefficient of the basic monthly salary could not exceed 2.6%. This meant that although the increase according to the established legal calculation method should have been higher, the actual growth was limited to 2.6%. In preparing the budget for 2026, on the other hand, it was decided not to increase the basic monthly salary at all — the growth was 0%. Therefore, in 2026, the basic monthly salaries remained at the level of 2025.
