Around 3 PM in Ogre on Daugavpils Street, a VW Passat car collided with a cyclist. The cyclist died from the injuries sustained. The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident. The police are also establishing the circumstances of this incident. In the past 24 hours, seven people were injured in traffic accidents in the Riga region, three in Kurzeme, and one in Latgale. Among the injured were two pedestrians, two cyclists, and one electric scooter rider. The police detained six drivers for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The most offenders were identified in Kurzeme and Vidzeme. Four drivers were found to be so intoxicated that they face criminal charges. Their vehicles will be confiscated or the cost of the vehicles will be recovered from the offenders. On Monday, 100 protocols were issued for speeding: 49 in Vidzeme, 24 in Zemgale, 12 in Latgale, eight in Kurzeme, and seven in the Riga region. Another driver was penalized for aggressive driving.
