The problems also affected the so-called critical ATMs: out of 94 such devices, 17 experienced disruptions. As noted by the Bank of Latvia, the storm allowed for a practical test of the financial sector's readiness for a situation where power outages, communication issues, and other infrastructure problems occur simultaneously. Despite the scale of the outages, banks operated according to their business continuity plans. Core banking services, including interbank transfers and instant payments, remained available without significant interruptions. The Bank of Latvia recommends that residents keep some cash on hand or have a separate cash reserve in case of a crisis situation.
