The initiative has been submitted for consideration to the Department of External Space and Mobility. On the portal manabalss.lv, 2,188 signatures have been collected in support of it. The authors of the initiative are calling for the return of convenient and accessible transport connections and to ensure that residents of the neighborhood can reach the center without transfers. In particular, it is proposed to cancel the changes to the routes of buses No. 18, 15, and 31 and the transfer system introduced for the Dārzini and Rumbula directions. Residents demand to maintain the previous routes of buses No. 18 and 15 to Abrenes Street and the city center. According to the authors of the initiative, the new traffic organization significantly worsens the quality of life and mobility options for Dārzini residents. The changes also affect people who commute to work in these areas, particularly in Rumbula. The proposed option for traveling to the center with a transfer in Kengarags is described by the authors of the initiative as "extremely inconvenient." The discussion of the issue sparked heated debates among the members of the Riga City Council. Opposition representatives mainly insisted on reversing the changes, claiming that residents view the new transport system negatively. Representatives of the ruling coalition, on the contrary, stated that after the route changes, the number of passengers increased and continues to grow. In their opinion, this indicates that opposition politicians are inciting residents and urging them to collect signatures against the reform, while in practice, public transport usage has become more frequent. As previously reported, bus No. 18 from Dārzini now runs more frequently, but its route ends in Kengarags. After the reform, No. 18 became a feeder route to the mobility point "Kengarags." Buses run daily every 12–15 minutes, whereas previously the interval was 35–45 minutes on weekdays and 60 minutes on weekends. At the mobility point "Kengarags," passengers can transfer to trams and trolleybuses, which on weekdays depart towards the center every two to five minutes. There, passengers can also transfer to buses heading to Purvciems, Mezciems, Jugla, and Sarkandaugava. Starting in September, some trips of bus No. 18 will be extended to the intersection of Prusu and Latgales Streets to make it more convenient for schoolchildren to reach educational institutions in Kengarags and return home.
