The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia continues to receive new information about Latvian travelers who may be in Nepal and affected by the sudden floods. So far, relatives of 25 Latvian citizens, who are presumed to be in Nepal, have contacted the Consular Department of the Ministry. At the same time, the overall list, compiled based on information from various sources, has increased to approximately 40 people. The ministry emphasizes that this figure is still approximate. The Nepal Tourism Board reported that as of Thursday, they have been unable to establish contact with more than 500 foreigners. Among those listed as missing are **six Latvian citizens**. The Latvian Association of Travel Agents and Operators (ALTA) stated that its members did not organize trips to Nepal during this period. To the association's knowledge, no other licensed tour operator in Latvia conducted such tours either. As previously reported, on the evening of Wednesday, August 26, calls began to come into the round-the-clock phone of the Consular Department from people who could not reach their relatives and friends currently in Nepal. According to local authorities, as a result of the sudden flooding caused by a glacier collapse, at least **270 people** have died in Nepal. Another **826 people are listed as missing**. Among them are at least 579 tourists — both Nepali citizens and foreigners. Thus, the number of Latvians who may potentially be in the disaster-affected Nepal continues to be clarified. So far, it is officially known that there are six Latvian citizens with whom the Nepalese side has been unable to establish contact.
