Deputies of the Saeima from the Union of Greens and Farmers, with the beginning of the autumn and final session of the current parliament, submitted a draft amendment to the Law on Elections to the Saeima, which provides for the possibility for Latvian citizens living abroad to vote by mail... for the list of the electoral district in which they were registered before emigration. Currently, all those voting abroad - by mail or in person (at embassies and consulates) - are 'assigned' to Riga, meaning they can only vote for party lists in the Riga electoral district. We dare to assume that the other political forces in the Saeima will not rush to support this bill before the elections.
