As a result, flooding of streets, yards, basements, and other low-lying areas is possible. ### Hail and Strong Wind Gusts Possible In some areas, thunderstorms may be accompanied by hail and strong wind gusts. Overall, throughout the day, the wind will be weak and variable, but during thunderstorms, it may noticeably strengthen. During periods when the sun shines, the air temperature will warm up to +18…+23 degrees. ### What to Expect in Riga In Riga, the highest probability of rain and thunderstorms is forecasted for the second half of the day. There will be a light wind, but sharp gusts are possible during thunderstorms. The maximum air temperature in the capital will be around +20 degrees. The weather conditions in Latvia are determined by an area of low atmospheric pressure. The pressure at sea level will be 1009–1011 hPa. Thus, the main weather risk on September 1 will not be so much prolonged precipitation as local intense downpours. In certain areas, a large amount of water may fall in a very short time, making low-lying streets, yards, and basements particularly vulnerable.
