The accident occurred in a bathhouse, where a seven-year-old boy accidentally poured hot water on himself. The child sustained second-degree burns on approximately 18% of his body surface. The arriving Emergency Medical Service (NMPD) team stabilized the victim's condition. According to established procedures, the patient was taken to the nearest medical facility — Ogre Hospital. However, the boy's father claims that after the child arrived, he was left on a hospital bed in the corridor of the emergency department. According to him, no hospital staff approached the boy for about ten minutes. The family claims that, not waiting for action from the staff, the NMPD team on site decided to take the child themselves to the Children's Clinical University Hospital in Riga. ### The hospital denies the accusations Ogre Hospital presented a different version of events. In a written response to the Bez Tabu program, the administration stated that the child was examined by two specialists immediately. According to the hospital, the doctors also consulted with the head of the NMPD team. Thus, the medical institution denies the claim that the boy was left unattended by medical personnel. ### NVD is investigating the circumstances After information about the incident emerged, the National Health Service (NVD) began an investigation. Specialists will need to determine what exactly happened after the child was delivered to Ogre Hospital and whether the necessary medical assistance was provided to the seven-year-old patient in a timely manner.
