As reported by bb.lv, starting from September 1 of this year, the import of a number of goods from Russia and Belarus is prohibited in Latvia — this is stipulated by the regulations prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ban applies to printed books, newspapers, and other printed products, as well as manuscripts and typewritten texts. > The ban does not see a difference between Russian propaganda and Russian classics. Thus, the collection of speeches by Braže's colleague – Sergey Lavrov – is equated with the collected works of Leo Tolstoy. Commenting on the information that has emerged in the public domain about cunning Latvian traders using Estonia to circumvent the ban on importing books from Russia, Braže stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will verify the information regarding the use of Estonia to bypass the restrictions. If confirmed, Latvia will demand that Estonia take the necessary measures to stop such practices, Braže promised. At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will call on the Ministry of Economy to ensure that the turnover of goods in the Latvian market is carried out in accordance with the legislation of Latvia and the established restrictions.
