The drone was found on September 1 by a fisherman on the rocky shore of an island in the Pellinki archipelago. The device has a wingspan of about 3.3 meters and is primarily intended for mapping and aerial photography. No explosives were found on board. Finnish border guards have launched an investigation into a possible violation of the state border. Investigators are determining where and how the device entered Finland. One theory being considered is that the drone may have fallen into the sea and then washed ashore on the Finnish coast. At the same time, authorities emphasize an important detail: it has not yet been established who exactly operated the drone and for what purpose. The Geoscan 701 model is used by both government agencies and civilian organizations. Therefore, it cannot be claimed at this time that it was a Russian military or reconnaissance device.
